Read Island is one of the Discovery Islands, located at the north end of the Strait of Georgia, between Vancouver Island and the Coast Mountain range, 160 kilometers (100 miles) north of Vancouver, BC.

Seaplane directly to Silent Ground: from Vancouver 1 hour, from Seattle approx. 2 hours

Airplane to Campbell River then ferry to Quadra Island and water taxi to Silent Ground:
from Vancouver 2 hours, from Seattle 3 hours

Roads and Ferries from Vancouver 6 hours, from Seattle 10 hours

From Vancouver
Take the Horseshoe Bay Ferry from Vancouver to Departure Bay, which leaves every 2 hours (catch the 10:05 or 10:40 am)
Vancouver bus leaves at 9:15 am and boards the 10:30 am ferry. Guaranteed arrival to catch 4:15 pm boat charter one needs to catch the 5:30 am bus.
Take Quadra ferry from Campbell River to Quathiaski Cove (15 min.)
Drive across Quadra Island, call the taxi, or ask for a ride to Heriot Bay (15 min.).
Ferries from Campbell River run on the half hour eg. 3:30 pm
The boat trip to Silent Ground takes 30 min.

Boat Charter:

~Departure from Silent Ground eg. 9:30 am. Other days/times are possible.

Drivers: Follow signs across Quadra Island to Cortes Island Ferry & Heriot Bay.
Turn left on Cramer Road in Heriot Bay.
Turn right on Antler Road to free Gov't parking lot.
The boat leaves from the Government Wharf (NOT the Heriot Bay Inn Gas Dock).

What to Bring:
Loose clothing, a warm layer for cool evenings, rain wear,
comfortable walking shoes and easy slip-on shoes.
During warmer seasons a sun hat and swimsuit are a good idea.

General: Flashlight, alarm clock, toiletries. Towels are provided.

Accommodations: Private sleeping lofts in shared room, shared cabin or single rooms. Bedding is provided.

Special needs: If you have a special diet, physical or health requests, please let us know a few weeks prior to arrival.
